Gardens in Vancouver, BC have experienced such a late season this year.  It seems everything is still about five weeks behind our regularly anticipated schedule.  But what a long way we’ve come, and despite all the cool weather some plants have really thrived.  I was expecting all roses to be suffering from black spot and thus wearing only yellow leaves this year, but nature surprised me once again! I have to admit though, that I have enjoyed the bounty of BC berries which seem to be a result of this unexpected weather.

The second garden, below, is a beautiful English cottage garden brimming with roses. You wouldn’t know it in spring!

Hellebores put on a fantastic show in the spring, especially when planted in the garden en masse. I love the bonus of having evergreen leaves that last all year with these plants.
